Content

Carers of people with a learning disability are entitled to an assessment in their own right. The needs of carers can be assessed by either a ‘joint carers assessment’ or a ‘carers impact assessment’. You can find out more by looking at the ‘Carers Assessment’ page.

There’s lots of information on the ‘Carers Support’ page about support available for carers

  • The Sharing Caring Project supports carers over the age of 55 years
  • Sheffield Carers Centre offers information and support to all carers
  • Older Carers Support Service
  • There are also a wide range of support groups in the city for the families and carers of people with various disabilities and illnesses

Family carers are represented on the Learning Disabilities Partnership Board in Sheffield. You can link to information about this if you go to the ‘Partnership Board’ page.
