This year’s national Learning Disabilities Week is taking place from 21 – 25 June 2010. The theme of the week is improving health and wellbeing for people with a learning disability.
Following the success of last year's events, which were so much fun for everyone involved, we are running another week of events and activities in Sheffield that everyone can take part in.
There will be sports, drama, dance and music activities, as well as information events about services in Sheffield for people with a learning disability. The events will be taking place in a range of public venues across the city and are open to people with a learning disability, their carers and staff:
Monday 21 June
10.00am - 2.30pm, Peace Gardens & Town Hall area, Sheffield city centre
i6 Information Event for learning disabilities in Sheffield - over 60 stalls. Formal opening at 11am. Come and find out more about different opportunities available in Sheffield for people with a learning disability!
Tuesday 22 June
10.00am - 3.30pm, The HUBs, Sheffield Hallam Students Union
Drama, dance, DJ and animation workshops, performances and music and more!
Wednesday 23 June
10.00am - 3.30pm, Ponds Forge, Skyline Suite
Archery, Wii games, Soundbeams and other indoor sports activities, plus yoga, gym sessions and swimming also available
Thursday 24 June
10.00am - 3.30pm, Hillsborough Arena & Park
Football and ball skills, kwik cricket, rugby, boccia, curling, athletics and accessible cycling.

7.30pm - 11pm, The HUBs, Sheffield Hallam Students Union

Friday 25 June
10.30am - 12.30pm, Ice Sheffield
Accessible ice-skating trip. Ring 268 5271 to book.

Health & Wellbeing event - information and activities both indoor and outdoor about health and wellbeing.
If you are an adult with a learning disability you are welcome to come along to the events. You can bring a carer or support worker along too, if you choose.
All events are free of charge, except for the Under the Stars nightclub. For the ice-skating trip, please ring 268 5271 to book a place. For all other events, there is no need to book - just come along!
Please put these dates in your diaries and pass on this information to your friends and colleagues. We hope that Learning Disabilities Week 2010 will be even bigger and better than the events last year and we want to make sure that everyone hears about it and has the opportunity to come along!
We will keep updating this page with more details about the activities of each day, and other practical things like parking, refreshments and toilets. There will be a Changing Places toilet available on each of the days.
