In our team there is a:
- Consultant Psychiatrist
- Specialist Nurse Practitioners
- Clinical Psychologist
- Dual Diagnosis Social Worker
We work together to make sure that we meet the mental health needs of people with learning disabilities.
We will only be told about people when they have problems with their mental health.
We aim to help these people to get over the problems they have then and to help them stay well afterwards.
We aim to help you understand and cope with your feelings, behaviours and things that upset you. We will do this by
- listening to you and the people who know you best
- helping you and your carer to think about problems and carry out agreed programmes
- giving you medicines that can help you
- giving you information about the problems that you have
- giving you help to contact other people who might be useful to you
Two members of our team will arrange to meet you as soon as possible after we’ve been told you need our help.
They will talk to you about who can best help you with the difficulties you are having and will arrange for you to see that person or will give you the information you need to make arrangements for yourself.
We may work with you on your own, in a group or with your carer.
You come to see us at the Rivermead Unit, Northern General Hospital.
We can also come to see you at your home, day centre, college, work or anywhere else that would suit you.
