People with learning disabilities tell us that they, like most of
the population, want to work. Employment
is also one of the best ways of achieving real social inclusion. However many people with a learning disability have difficulty getting a job.
Much work has now been done to improve the chances of people with a
learning disability in Sheffield getting a job. This strategy sets out how we will help more people into work.
We need to raise expectations, so that paid employment is recognised as a realistic option for anyone with a learning disability who wants to work.

in recruitment. We will make sure
supported employment services in all sectors work effectively together to
provide the right support to consistent standards. We will make sure employers will have the information and support
they need to help them successfully employ more people with a learning
disability within their own organisations.
