Changing Places toilet facilities in Sheffield

What are Changing Places toilets?
Standard disabled toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability, or their carers! 
 
Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabiled toilets. 
 
The right equipment
  • a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • a tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible.
 
Enough space
  • adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers
  • a centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers
  • a screen or curtain to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy.
 
A safe and clean environment
  • wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench
  • a large waste bin for disposable pads
  • a non-slip floor.
Changing Places that include a height adjustable changing bench, tracking hoist system, accessible toilet and enough room supporters.

Abbey Lane - Public toilet
Abbey Lane, near the junction of Chesterfield Road.
Where is it?
It is accessible from the main road.
How do I get in?
Radar Key
To use the hoist and bench will need a separate key that can be obtained from public toilet facilities
When is it open?
Mon – Sun 8am until dusk

It is on the first floor, accessible by lift.  It is signed from the entrance.
How do I get in?
Radar Key
When is it open?
Mon – Fri 7am until 10pm
Sat 8am until 5pm
Sun 8am until 9pm

Where is it?
It is on the lower floor.
Go through main entrance, down in the lift and through reception, it is on the left hand side.  It is signed from the entrance. 
How do I get in?
Use your own Radar Key or ask at reception for one.
When is it open?
Mon – Thurs 6.30am until 10.30pm
Fri 6-30am until 10pm
Sat and Sun 8.00am until 9.45pm
 
 
 
Norton / Woodseats Cricket Club

Where is it?
Go through the main door, turn right and then left – it is signed on the door.
How do I get in?
No Radar key required.
When is it open?
When the Cricket Club is open on match days.

Ask at physiotherapy reception if you don’t have your own
When is it open?
Mon – Sun 8am until 8pm

Where is it?
From the main entrance go right, through the café and through double
doors at the side of the counter.  It is signed on the door.
How do I get in?
Call at reception first as it is sometimes kept locked.
When is it open?
Mon – Fri 8am until 6pm
 
 
Town Hall

Where is it?
On the first floor which is accessible by lift. It is next to the ladies toilet.
How do I get in?
Call at reception first as it is sometimes kept locked.
When is it open?
Mon – Fri 9am until 5pm
Almost Changing Places include a height adjustable changing bench, tracking hoist system and enough room for supporters. This equipment is not in the same room as the accessible toilet.

Every Tuesday and Thursday 9am-4pm

Mobile Changing Places toilet - FOR HIRE for events
inside our mobile changing places unit with toilet and hoist
Sheffield has purchased a mobile Changing Places toilet through the Learning Disabilities Development Fund.  The unit is designed to be both luxurious and easy to use for both carers and the disabled person, and includes a fully automatic tracking hoist, height adjustable changing bench, peninsular toilet and plenty of space.
 
The mobile Changing Places toilet is available for hire for events in Sheffield and the local nearby area.  We hope that many people will take up this fantastic opportunity to make their event accessible to all people.
 
The approximate cost of hire will be £250 per event, which covers transport of the unit to the venue and cleaning after usage.  A booking request form is available for download at the bottom of the page.
