In every Adult
Placement you are helped and supported by someone who is an approved
carer. They will share their home with you and include you as part of
their family.
There
are lots of different kinds of approved carers. Some approved carers
are couples, others are single people and some have children. They can
provide help and support to more than one person.
The
approved carers are part of the Adult Family Placement Service. Before
they are approved they have to attend a preparation course. They are
assessed by a social worker from the service and police and other
checks are made and references obtained. The social worker will write a
report for the approval panel. The panel is made up of people who are
not involved in the day to day running of the service. After reading
the report the panel will decide whether the potential carer is
suitable.
