Direct Payments are a way for you to get the support you want. Instead of us arranging care or support for you, you can have a cash payment and choose your own arrangements. It allows you to live more independently and have more choice and control over the way you live your life.
Direct payments can help you if you are assessed as needing Community Care services and have
- a physical or a learning disability
- problems due to being frail or elderly
- mental health issues
- a disabled child who needs services
- to care for a person with a disability or long term illness
You must use the money to pay for meeting the agreed needs from the assessment or care plan. For example, you could employ a Personal Assistant or Support Worker.
If you have Direct Payments you can have as much help as you need to manage your money and you can choose who gives you the help or support.
