The Independent Living Fund is a government trust fund set up to help you live independently. It offers top up funding in order to help you live at home if you have high care needs. The Independent Living Fund will cover the costs of your personal care or home support.
To qualify for the Independent Living Fund you must
- be aged between 16 and 66 years
- be in receipt of the higher rate Disability Living Allowance care component
- be receiving at least £200 worth of support provided by Neighbourhoods and Community Care Directorate
- be able to or want to live independently in the community
- have savings of less than £18,500
The Independent Living Fund can give you up to £420 per week so you can employ a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or you may choose to use an agency to help you at home or out and about.
