Signpost Sheffield

Welcome to Signpost Sheffield, an information website about the Joint Learning Disabilities Service in Sheffield. This site has been designed for service users, families, carers and staff.

i5, the 5th Learning Disabilities Information Day is on Friday 5 September, 10am - 2.30pm

Something new for Sheffield is an accessible booklet for people with a learning disability called 'Restraint in Sheffield - Keep Safe and Know your Rights'.

We now have more information about consultations that are taking place. In 2001, the white paper 'Valuing People’ set out the Government's vision for people with a learning disability based on the four key principles of rights, independence, choice, and inclusion. The Government now wants to hear people's views on the priorities for people with a learning disability over the next three years. Valuing People Now is the consultation document. You can see a copy of Valuing People Now (new window) by going to this website.

We are working on strategies for services for people with a learning disability. You can see a copy of the strategies on the strategy page. There are two versions of each strategy - a long one and an easy read version.

We'd like to know what you think about Valuing People Now and about our strategies. Please tell us what you think by emailing to ldwebsite@sheffield.gov.uk. Or you can write to Richard Parrott, Strategic Commissioning Manager, Floor 4, Redvers House, Sheffield S1 2JQ.

This website was launched in March 2006. We continue to update the website based on information and feedback we get. If you want to tell us anything about this website please use the Feedback Form
