Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI)

The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) is a programme to support the fitness industry to become more inclusive.

This means it can meet the needs of disabled and non-disabled people and help them to do more physical activity.

What should I expect an IFI centre to be like?

  • Accessible facilities - this means you can access to the facility and the services available

  • A positive staff attitude

  • Inclusive fitness equipment so you can get a full body workout

Why use an IFI site?

Because exercise

  • can be fun!

  • reduces the risk of some cancers, cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes and obesity

  • means you are less likely to be depressed and anxious

  • helps to improve your mood and self-esteem

  • reduces the risk of falls and accidents amongst older people or people with limited mobility
